Thai food in Morar
I was born in Bangkok and grew up on the banks of a klong (canal) leading from the Chaopraya river at the very heart of what has become the most vibrant city in Asia.
Food has always been of paramount importance in Thailand, with life seeming to revolve around the various opportunities for eating. The sound of pestle and mortar grinding ingredients for that unique curry paste, or the smell of chilies and herbs frying in the wok form a fundamental part of my childhood.

No one word can be found to adequately describe Thailand, the combination of city bustle, beautiful countryside, wonderful beaches, unique islands and most of all the warmth of the people. The same can be said about Thai food. Mouth-wateringly different, chilli hot, aromatic, with abundant use of pungent herbs contrasted with delicately balanced spices. Look upon Thai food as an attack on the taste buds, an assault that explores every single flavour sensation releasing a riot of reactions, surprise, delight, wonder, even confusion and just a hint of danger. Thai cooking blends Chinese, Indian and Arabic influences into a unique cuisine but never forgetting it’s essential basic ingredients. Fish sauce, chillies and lemon juice form the basis of most dishes along with aromatic ingredients such as siamese ginger, sweet basil, coriander, lemon grass and a host of other herb and spices.

A typical Thai dinner consists of an assortment of meat and seafood dishes, soup, salad, vegeatables and sauces served simultaneously around a central bowl of fragrant rice.

Sunset is situated in the peaceful village of Morar, some forty miles west from Fort William. The A830 (Road To The Isles) will take you from Fort William, past the famous monument in Glenfinnan, and on through the west coast villages of Lochailort and Arisaig.

Three miles beyond Arisaig, a minor road to the right leads over the river and past the falls of Morar into Morar village itself. Sunset is about one hundred yards beyond the railway crossing and local station, the third house after the hotel, overlooking the sands of Morar Bay.
