Anne Dye's Batik Studio at Ariundle, near Strontian,   is part of the popular Ariundle Centre and visitors are welcome to watch Anne at work from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday (and most weekends during the afternoons).

On display is a wide range of batik wallhangings, pictures, silk scarves, cards and lamps.

On Thursdays during July and August visitors can join a one-day batik course.  Beginners are welcome and everyone produces at least two batiks to take away.  Booking is essential - a day in advance will do. The cost is £30 which includes materials and lunch/coffees.

There are also Spring and Autumn weekend batik courses: during 2007 these are on 10-11 February, 17-18 March, 14-15 April, 19-20 May, 20-21 October and 17-18 November.

Anne hails from South America but has lived in Moidart since 1965. Her interest in batik dates from 1985 when she attended a series of batik courses at West Dean College in Sussex which introduced her to a whole range of batik techniques on cotton, silk and paper.

Her work has been exhibited in several Scottish galleries and some of her commissioned wallhangings and framed pieces are in private homes in the U.S.A., Australia, The Netherlands, Argentina and the U.K.

Anne is the Scottish representative of The Batik Guild.
